Jill Collier is the principal artist at Chestnut Gallery.
Based in rural Oxfordshire. I have always had a passion for animals and have been a qualified Vetinary Nurse for 10 years and continue to work in that profession. I started painting when I was very young and I am entirely self taught.
Apart from my nursing career I have worked with animals most of my life, including equestrian pursuits. I currently have two horses, three dogs and a cat, which give me a lot of inspiration for my painting and sculpture.
Because I live in the countryside I have also been fascinated by the wide variety of wildlife which is all around me. This interest has broadened into a love of all wildlife from many countries.
This variety of interests has led me to consolidate most of my work in these areas. I mostly create in watercolour, gouache and acrylic and often combine these techniques into mixed media artwork for particular studies which I feel enhance the overall composition.
